This policy covers Madconfig, MadPDF (see MadPDF below) and this website.

Madconfig is a Windows network scanner. It is built to work offline, and the information it collects stays on your computer. We do not run accounts, analytics or advertising, and we do not sell or share personal data.

What stays on your PC

• Scan results: devices, IP and MAC addresses, open ports, vendors, the topology map and reports you export.
• Sites & Vault: the logins you save for network devices. They are encrypted with Windows (DPAPI) and can only be read by your Windows user account on that PC.
• Saved Wi-Fi passwords are read from Windows only when you ask, and are not stored or sent anywhere by Madconfig.
• Licence information: your Machine ID (a one-way code derived from your Windows installation) and your licence key.

None of this is uploaded to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling Madconfig and deleting its app data folder removes it.

Internet connections Madconfig makes

• Public IP lookup: when you open network info, Madconfig asks ip-api.com or ipinfo.io for your public IP address and its approximate location and provider. Those services see your public IP address, as with any website.
• Update checks (website version only): Madconfig checks our release server for new versions. The Microsoft Store version is updated by the Store instead.
• Fonts: the app interface loads fonts from Google Fonts.

Scanning only talks to devices on the network you are connected to.

MadPDF

MadPDF is a Windows PDF editor. It works offline: your documents are opened, edited, converted, recognised (OCR) and saved on your PC and are never uploaded to us. MadPDF has no account and sends no telemetry or analytics.

MadPDF connects to the internet only for these actions:

• Update check: MadPDF asks our release server whether a newer version exists, and downloads it if you choose to install it. The server sees your IP address, as with any website.
• Signatures: when you sign with a trusted timestamp, or check whether a signing certificate has been revoked, MadPDF contacts the timestamp or certificate authority's server named in the settings or the certificate. Only the data needed for that check is sent (for a timestamp, a fingerprint of the document, not the document).
• Send Feedback (Help ▸ Send Feedback): only when you press Send, MadPDF sends what you typed, your email address if you entered one, a screenshot if you attached one, the MadPDF version, the Windows version and the interface language to our own server at getmadtools.com. We use it only to answer you and fix problems, keep it no longer than needed for that, and do not share it. Ask us at the address below to have a report deleted. To stop abuse, the server keeps a one-way code made from your IP address for one hour to limit how many reports can be sent; the IP address itself is not stored with the report.

Creating PDFs from Office files uses LibreOffice on your own PC, if you installed it; nothing is sent anywhere.

This website

This site sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics. To count visits and downloads, our own server records the time, the page, the site you came from and your browser type. Your IP address is not stored; it is only used, together with the date, to make a code that changes every day so one person is not counted twice. Our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs for security.

Buying a licence

To get a licence key you send us your Machine ID and, usually, your name and email or phone number so we can deliver the key and give support. We keep this only to manage your licence and do not share it.

Responsible use

Use Madconfig only on networks you own or are authorised to manage.

Children

Madconfig is a professional tool and is not directed at children.
